Started this linocut about a month ago, I finally Started this linocut about a month ago, I finally got the opportunity to print it. Here’s the carving process and the final edition.
Working on my second ever woodcut, I started this Working on my second ever woodcut, I started this woodcut out of curiosity for it. I walked by @raamenstallings studio and saw that he had nicely cut wood planks, so I took one. The duality of finding what you need when you weren’t even looking for it, he’s also my good friend lol. My subject matter is myself, around this time I work on my yearly portrait. For the past 5 years I’ve archived my art journey and grow through a reflection of creating a portrait. Last year was a Drypoint and this year a woodcut. Can’t wait to share this piece during my show solo coming up in the summer!

The @contemporaryprintcollective hosted a workshop where Steven Chapp demonstrated this new technique to me. I’ve been doing Drypoints (Plexiglass) for the last year and enjoyed the distinct marks of the medium, I always wish there was a softer way to create the marks. The Tetra Pak is perfect, it’s cheap and the surface is soft. Stay tuned for all the tetra paks I’ll be experimenting. #tetrapak #tetrapakprintmaking
Spent some time in the studio—here’s the print Spent some time in the studio—here’s the printing process. Before printing, I had to cut the paper and create a registration, which acts as a template to align the linoleum block and paper for repeatable prints. This was a fun print of a corn. I still don’t have a title yet, but I plan to think on it—maybe it will come to me randomly. I ended up making five prints in total for this piece. Lately, I’ve been splitting my time between painting and the print studio. Printmaking was my first medium and the reason I became an artist. If it weren’t for this medium, I probably would have pursued a career in engineering. Sometimes, your purpose finds you when you’re not even looking.

Carving away on this linocut. I got the opportunit Carving away on this linocut. I got the opportunity to do a residency back in December @trilliumartsnc and my love for cows was expanded. I got to see them everyday as they roam the hills of North Carolina. When I grew up in Mexico it was a normal sight to see them every day. Here in the US living in a city is a joy to see them on rare occasions when traveling.#linocut #carvinglino #cows

I had the opportunity to participate in my first print portfolio exchange with @contemporaryprintcollective with the goal of creating a print based on the word “Liminal”. I had a great experience working on this piece from the concept to the final printing process. At the ended i printed over 40 prints but only having 20 in the edition. Sometimes you make mistakes and it allows you to grow, thank fully I had Steven a member of the print collective show me how to better set up for printing a more consistent edition.
Working with new colors! For over 5 years of my pr Working with new colors! For over 5 years of my printmaking practice I’ve stuck with black ink on white paper. I am exited to experiment with other colors and paper tones. For this piece I decided to use a light pink shade to substitute for the traditional black ink. I’ll be doing an edition of only 10 linocut prints. #Linocut#linoprint#gravado
