Monotype Printmaking for Beginners: Mark-Making and Color

This week-long monotype printmaking workshop is designed for beginners, introducing students to a process based on painting with printmaking ink on a plexiglass plate. Students will learn the essentials of the studio, including how to properly adjust the printing press for the right pressure and how to mix inks to create a desired color palette. The overall goal is for students to explore various monotype techniques on smaller plates, working with both additive and subtractive methods. By the end of the workshop, students will have created several small monotype studies and one main finished print, gaining the skills to properly edition and title their work.
